Two More Mondays & Our Weekend

Things are getting exciting around our house! Between all of the fun things that come along with the "end of the year" like dance recitals, baseball starting up, field trips, class parties, graduations and nice weather (of course), we are counting down the days until I transition from working full-time in the office to part-time from home! I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to be able to do it. We're doing a 10 week trial to make sure it works both for me and my company. I'm forfeiting any responsibilities that I have above and beyond the marketing (I have quite a few "sales support" duties that must be done in the office). So, we'll need to make sure that those get handled well. Please say a prayer that it works out. I have no worries that I will be able to get my work done. I've got childcare arranged, and will move a lot from my desk home so I can work just like I would if I was in the office.

I love my job and the people I work with. I don't hate coming in to the office every day, but I'm really looking forward to the flexibility that comes with working from home. Scheduling doctors' appointments, extra curricular activities and just getting laundry done and dinner made are so difficult to manage when you have 2 parents working outside the home (and one in grad school). We managed really well up until this year with both kids and Heath in school, but we need to do something. Every Sunday afternoon, I get major anxiety and guilt that I didn't get this or that done, and I'm usually running those last minute grocery errands late on Sunday afternoon. I'm so excited to be able to spread my errands out and really enjoy our weekends with Heath at home.

So, my last day in the office is May 23rd, and the kids' last day at school is May 29th. We've got lots of fun stuff scheduled for the summer like swimming lessons, VBS, camps, and we're planning to get a pool pass to the city pools. Unfortunately, our baseball game schedule does not work in our favor to spend a lot of time at the lake! We'll be down there for a week over the 4th of July, but besides that, we might just be down to get some staining done. My doctor won't let me travel after mid-July which happens to be the same time that the baseball season ends. And then, school will be back in session and we'll have a new baby!

We had a really great weekend, but it was jam packed! On Friday night, we went to Oklahoma Joe's for dinner to celebrate Heath's birthday! We love that place, but we don't make it very often. The kids loved their food! Madelyn got the chicken breast, and Brody got smoked turkey. Looks like Heath will be pulling out the smoker a little more this summer!

Saturday morning, I had to meet a couple people to sell some things (I got in a short-lived spring cleaning mode) and then we stopped to get Brody's haircut. We'd been talking about doing it for weeks, and just hadn't gotten around to it, so we stopped at Great Clips. He loves it! Every time I went to rub it, he told me to stop because I was going to mess it up!

Later on Saturday, Brody and Heath had baseball practice, and Madelyn and I headed to our friend Liam's birthday party! He had a Lego Movie themed party, and our friends Sara & Zack did an awesome job! Loved the double decker couch! If you've seen the movie, you'll know what I'm talking about!

I had to steal this picture from Sara, because I never managed to get a pic of them together!

Then Saturday night, we babysit Max and Macie while Julie and Billy went to a wedding.

On Sunday I woke up early and enjoyed about an hour and a half to myself before everyone else woke up! I can't sleep past 6:30 these days! I was surprised with flowers, PB M&Ms and a card waiting for me on the island!

I opened the kids' sweet handmade cards on Friday. These questionnaires are the best! I hope every teacher does these!

I let the kids sleep in because we were out late at Julie's, so we missed going to mass. We had reservations at our friend, Dan's restaurant, District. It was so good! Brody wanted the Chicken and Waffles, but they didn't have any waffles and substituted French toast. He pointed out to the waiter that their menu says "Chicken and Waffles"! They loved the French toast, though, so it was ok!

After brunch we ran a few errands then headed to Heath's parents to spend some time with his mom. Then it was back to baseball practice (and another grocery store for me and Madelyn).

It was a pretty great Mother's Day! Even compared to last year!
