Introducing Parker Jane

Way back on August 5th, we welcomed our sweet baby Parker Jane. She surprised us almost 4 weeks early weighing in at 6lb 8oz and 19 inches long.

I had many things left on my to do list, and the night before she was born, I stayed up late making a giant list of things to complete that week, just in case she decided to come early. I finished my list at about midnight, and went to sleep. I had been waking up at 5:00 every morning to get some work done before the kids woke up. After being up so late, I turned my alarm off and didn't get up. I woke up at 5:45 to go to the bathroom, came back to bed, and fell back asleep. At 6:00 on the dot, I woke up and thought I was peeing my pants. I knew it wasn't possible since I had just been to the bathroom, but I was 36 weeks pregnant, so I didn't put it past me. I felt fine, not at all like I was about to have a baby, so I was sure my water hadn't broke, but I jumped in the shower just in case. I got out and Heath was confused as to why I had taken a shower at 6:00 am, because I always wait until after him. I told him I thought my water broke, and he couldn't believe I didn't wake him up! After walking around for a little bit, it was obvious that we were going to be having a baby, so I called the doctor, and he told me to get to the hospital within the hour. We called Heath's parents to come get the kids, packed our bag, and headed up there!

My contractions hadn't started very actively, so they gave me some pitocin to get things moving. I was hoping to not have pitocin or an epidural, but I went ahead and got it knowing that the pitocin was going to bring the contractions on pretty strong. The whole thing was very reminiscent of Madelyn's birth. The anesthesiologist came in, gave me the epidural and not long after it had taken affect, the baby was crowning, and I had to hold back from pushing until the doctor got there. That had to be the most miserable part. I only had to push through one contraction and she just made her way out on her own. It wasn't too bad!

I got nervous because they had prepared me that she may need to be taken immediately since she was early, but we were surprised with a very healthy little girl, who wasn't all that little in comparison to her brother and sister! Brody was actually 3 oz less than Parker at 40 weeks, and Madelyn was only 1 lb more. At first she wasn't crying, so I got a little anxious. The doctor said everything was fine and they were just suctioning, so after he said that, I asked "what is is?"! We didn't find out the gender, and I was sure it was a boy, so when he said a girl, I was shocked!

Brody and Madelyn are so in love with their little sister.

Parker turned 2 months yesterday, and it's been the fastest 2 months of my life! We are so in love with her. She's been such a good baby and we are beyond blessed.  I'm hoping to get caught up on life here on the blog, but between driving to school 3 times a day, nursing the baby, taking care of the house and trying to work, life is a bit busy! Here are some of our favorite pictures from her first couple of days.
Daddy and his baby girl. She's got him wrapped, for sure!

Mommy with the oldest and youngest. He's such a proud big brother!

Teeny tiny in her car seat! We were lucky to be able to bring her home on time. The pediatrician said they usually make 36 week babies stay in the NICU, but she was doing well, so they sent us home!

We made in home early on Thursday morning, and Brody and Madelyn were waiting patiently for us!

First night at home as a family of 5! Had to get a jammie pic!
