Our California Adventure Part 3: Disneyland!

Sunday was Mother's Day, and we spent the day at Disneyland. I'm a little bummed that we didn't get a chance to see the whole park, or even experience a portion of the shows or rides, but I didn't stress about  it too much because I knew that so much of it was similar to Magic Kingdom.

They handed out carnations to all the moms for Mother's Day!

We were at Disneyland for rope drop also. Our first stop here was the Princesses, of course! Disneyland has a new area called Fantasy Faire where you can have a private meet and greet with all of the princesses. Madelyn had been looking forward to it!

Outside of the Princesses there is Rapunzel's tower.

I have a video that I'll post later, but for now here are pictures of the kids with each of the princesses. I love that you can see Madelyn's timid smile in the pictures. That one with Cinderella hugging her is my favorite. She was so nervous going around each corner to meet them. We only got to meet Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid and Cinderella that day.

After meeting the princesses, we decided to go ride some rides! After stopping for a picture in front of the castle, of course!

On our way to ride Nemo (which ended up being scary...who knew?) we ran into Alice and the Mad Hatter!

Then we met Merida from Brave!

Then we rode It's a Small World!

After It's a Small World, we walked over to Mickey's Toon Town to meet Minnie and Mickey! Along the way we saw Goofy and Pluto!

Minnie loved Madelyn's outfit!

(Not sure what's with my drill team pose here...I must have been so excited to meet Minnie!)

Next, we rode a few more rides, including the Carousel...

and Dumbo...

It was really hot this afternoon, so not long after lunch, we found the Dole Whips that I read so much about...YUM! So worth the wait!

Then we rode the Mark Twain.

I knew that they had a Tangled Meet and Greet, but I couldn't find it on the map or in the times guide. Luckily, it was right next to the place we ate lunch. We found out that both Rapunzel AND Flynn Rider would be back at 4:30. I think Heath and I were just as excited as the kids to find out about it. We got there early to make sure we got a place in line. Some of the Meet and Greets are very limited, which is probably why I didn't know much about it.

This video is long, but you have to watch it. It's hilarious. The little girl before us had a lot to talk to Rapunzel about, so you'll have to wait through hers. The beginning is the best! Brody was so excited to meet Flynn Rider!

After meeting them, we rode Pinocchio, which the kids didn't care for. Before leaving the park for some dinner, we decided to go ride Buzz Lightyear. On the way there we ran into the parade route and decided to stop and watch. So glad we did, it was fantastic!

Since it was Mother's Day, we went back out to Downtown Disney to eat at Tortilla Jo's. It was good. Brody wouldn't stop talking about riding Radiator Springs Racers again, so we checked the wait time. It actually wasn't too bad, so we went back over to California Adventure and got in line. While we were there, we grabbed a couple night time family shots before going back to Disneyland for the fireworks!

The kids could barely keep their eyes open for the fireworks. We had them going for 14 hours in the parks that day. They were troopers! We were so limited on time, so we just kept going, and I'm so glad we did.

Here is what happened when we got back to the hotel! They pretty much got themselves ready for bed and fell asleep within minutes. This was not a set up! They lined themselves up with Woody, Pascal, Rapunzel, Maddy's baby and Jessie.

We had a blast. I thought going to California would be a one time thing, but I think we'll get back. Getting there was so easy, and it was actually pretty affordable. I would love to do a whole week so that we could spend 3 days in the parks and another day sightseeing/at the beach.

Stay tuned for the rest of the trip!
