Here fishy, fishy!

We spent last weekend down at the lake house. After all the sickness we've been through, it was nice to get out of the house. And, while Kansas City was dealing with cold and rain, we enjoyed sunshine and temps in the 70s on Saturday!

We were lazy for most of the morning. There was lots of bird watching, coffee and reading.

There is a trip to California booked. It was kind of spontaneous, and kind of last minute. More on that later!
After a run to Walmart for some fishing supplies and to grab some lunch, we loaded up snacks and headed down to the dock for some fishing.

I wish I would have taken video here...she was wiggling with the worms.

After about 3 hours on the dock, the wind started to pick up, so we hauled everything back up to the house. I didn't really plan meals for this weekend, so we had to go get something. K-State was playing KU in the Big 12 championship game, and we had planned to go find somewhere to watch the game. But, the kids were tired, so we decided to pick up Sonic and bring it back to the house.
They fell asleep on the way there, so we went exploring a little bit to let them sleep.
On Sunday morning, the kids slept in until 7:15! As we were getting up, the power went out. Before we had a chance to make coffee!  So, we went out for breakfast! This restaurant hasn't always had such a great view...The hotel was badly damaged from the tornado last year, and since the last time we were at the lake, they tore the buildings down.
By the time we got back to the house, the power was back on. I took a shower and Madelyn and I went to mass at their church, Our Lady of the Cove. Sounds like a joke, doesn't it? It's not! That's the name of their church!

We took the rest of the day pretty easy and finally decided to head home around 2. We didn't want to leave! Even in the rain, it's a nice, cozy place to be.
