Planning

We're major planners. Heath and I did something totally spontaneous and way out of our comfort zone, but I couldn't be more excited about it. We booked a trip to California in May! Like, less than 2 months away! It will be our first vacation ever for just our family since we've been married (if you don't count our honeymoon). My parents moved away right before Brody was born, so all of our vacation time and money has been used to go visit them for vacation. Now that they have the lake house, that pressure is off a little bit. And, I did a little extra work recently, so we had a little bit of cash set aside to cover the trip.

The best thing about the trip...we're surprising the kids! So, if you see them DON'T SAY ANYTHING about a vacation, Disney or anything!

I saw an Internet ad for the new Cars Land at Disney's California Adventure, and I thought we have to take Brody there before he doesn't like Lightning McQueen anymore (which I'm afraid could be too soon). So, I hopped online to see just how much a long weekend in Southern California would cost. After a little bit of research, I discovered it's actually not that bad. We're staying 4 nights in Anaheim with a day at each park and a day dedicated to the beach and sightseeing. And, Heath mentioned that we should go see an Angels game, since we'll be right there. So, I looked to see if they were in town the weekend that I was looking at, and they are. And guess who they play....they ROYALS! Of course, that sealed the deal for him.

Neither of us has ever been to California, and I hear that Disneyland is perfect for our kids at the age they are. But, we need Madelyn to grow about a half inch so that she can ride a lot of the rides with a height minimum!

If you've been with little kids and have any advice, we'd love to hear it! Also, we're planning to rent a car one day and head to the beach...which beach should we go to???

Fun! I know several people (IRL and bloggers) who have recently done Disney with their kids. If you want some contacts for thoughts and advice, let me know. There are also tons of websites dedicated to visiting Disney. I just went in January, but it was for work so I was sans kids. Mine are way too little to take at this point!

Oh my!!! You are going to love it. We just went in February :) We flew in on Thursday and did California Adventure on Friday, Disneyland on Saturday and then split the parks on Sunday and home Monday. Very quick trip and the parks were packed since it was President's Day Weekend, but we enjoyed it. Tip of the trip . . . Go as early as you can to California Adventure and head straight for the Fast Pass line for Radiator Springs Racers!!! We didn't get to ride it at all the first day because we didn't get one and the ride kept breaking and shutting down :( We finally got to ride it on Sunday and when we went back to get another Fast Pass at 10:30, they were all gone for the entire day. Call me if you want to chat :)
