Catching up on the past 2 weeks!

I had plans to get all caught up on the blog this weekend. Then the Connecticut shooting happened, and I just couldn't get in the mood. I tried to put together a thoughtful post about it, but I just can't put into words how devastating it is. I am having a hard time believing that it actually happened. The people in Newtown have been in my constant thoughts and prayers. I can't stop thinking about what it would be like to send your child to school for the last time. I think of all the mornings that I lose my temper with the kids because they won't get ready fast enough. This has definitely put a change in my heart. Life is too short, and no where is safe anymore. I feel like all I can do is trust in God, keep those affected in our prayers and move on with our own lives.

It's hard to believe that Christmas is in ONE WEEK! Where did the time go? I was so far ahead of the game, and now all of a sudden it's here and I have about 100 gifts to wrap! (Not really100, but pretty close)

I thought I would just give you a big old photo dump to recap the 2 weeks since I posted last. It's sort of a phone dump since most of the pictures are from the iPhone! I vowed I wouldn't let my phone be my primary camera, but I think I do take about half of my pictures on my phone these days... Tomorrow I'll be back with Madelyn's first dance recital!

On Saturday, the 8th, Heath's company had their annual kid's Christmas party at a place called Zonkers. It was crazy and crowded, but the kids had fun!

Then, Saturday night, I went to my friend Amanda's for her annual Christmas party.

Sunday night, we headed downtown to an open house at Heath's Uncle Greg's new butcher shop! If you're local, check out Broadway Butcher shop at 39th and Broadway for all of your meat needs!

Then on Monday, we went to Lee's Summit to drive through Christmas in the Park at Longview Lake. I got a tip to go on a Monday and eat at a pizza place close by. The kids got to make their own pizzas! They had a blast with that.

On Saturday, Maddy and I went to my friend Kelly's house for her annual cookie exchange. After about 5 years, I was finally able to make it! Each year she's invited me, I've had something going on. Madelyn had a great time!

On Sunday, I went to a new friend from church's house to watch the bachelorette wedding! She went over the top! We each got a tiara to wear, champagne, wedding cake cupcake, and a party favor. It was a lot of fun.
And, finally, last night we made Christmas pizzas! Last year I did snowmen. Brody asked if we could make a Christmas tree this year, and I thought it was a great idea!  I love how they turned out!
