We had a pretty eventful weekend in the injury department! It started on Friday night when Madelyn was running up to the mailbox with me. She got going pretty fast and wiped out skinning both of her knees. She had no scrapes anywhere else, so it was obvious her knees took the worst of the fall. I thought her face hit the concrete, but luckily it did not. It was the first time she's scraped her knees and had blood. I felt so bad for her. You could tell she was in a lot of pain because she wouldn't bend her knees on Friday night at all. As sad as it was to see her in pain, she is developing into quite the little drama queen...on Saturday morning, we all headed downstairs and she stayed in the bed and cried for someone to carry her because of her boo boos! There were lots of requests for "holdy" (hold me) throughout the day on Saturday. She had no issue at the Easter Egg hunt though! (more on that later)

| This was the first time that Madelyn actually needed a bandaid. It's a good thing we picked up those Disney Princess bandaids a couple weeks back! |
Then, on Saturday night, we went over to Julie and Billy's for their first bonfire of the year. Brody kept going in and out of the house. After they got the fire started Brody went back in and then immediately tried to come back out and he slammed his thumb in the screen door! I was watching him from around the fire to see where he was headed, all of a sudden we heard a horrible scream and a few people ran over to him. By the time I grabbed Madelyn and got into the house, they were at the sink rinsing the blood off of his finger. His finger nail and popped out of the nail bed and his finger was turning purple and swelling. We put pressure on it and got the bleeding to stop. We went home and he took a bath and went to bed without any trouble. Brody has a really high tolerance for pain, so he won't complain much or even tell you when something hurts. He played all day Saturday and Sunday without complaining. He does need help getting dressed, and eating is sort of difficult, but he has adapted. I called the doctor first thing this morning and they told me that I needed to come in as soon as possible because of the bruising and swelling. When we got there, the doctor determined that if there was a fracture, it was above the joint which is good and there isn't much they can do about it, so we didn't bother with an x-ray. He also said that he caused major trauma to the nail bed which means that a whole new nail will grow and push the current nail off. Until then, we'll need to keep it bandaged so that it doesn't accidentally rip off. The other good thing is that the blood is draining out the side of the nail, so we don't have to worry about that. Poor guy! He's being such a tough guy though!

| This was on Saturday night. It actually is a little more swollen and more purple now. |
The really funny part of this whole thing is the way Madelyn will not let us forget that she was hurt first. All day yesterday, after Brody got hurt, she kept reminding us of her fall. She would say "my boo boos" "running". Yes, Madelyn, we remember that you got boo boos first! And so the sibling rivalry begins!
