Mini Vacay

We took the world's shortest vacation this weekend! We told the kids it was a vacation when really it was just a trip to the Lake of the Ozarks to get our waverunner serviced and ready for the summer. We made the most of it though, well the most that we could with the torrential downpours that we had most of the time we were there!

We took off at noon on Friday and made our way down to the lake. As soon as we got into town, we dropped the waverunner off and headed to our hotel. I used priceline for the first time and was pleased with what we got! I got a night at Tan-Tar-A for $70! Not too shabby! They put us way back in the estates section of the resort, which would have been a lot better if it hadn't been raining. We had a view of the lake, and the kids could be as loud as they wanted because the other rooms in our building were vacant.

I researched some restaurants on the way down and found a place called Shorty Pants that was close to the resort and had good reviews. It had a New Orleans theme and the food was pretty good! It was right on the lake, but it was too chilly to sit outside.

After we got back from dinner, we went to check out the indoor swimming pool. The kids enjoyed it, of course. They also had a waterpark, but for $17/person/day, we decided the kids would be just as excited at the pool.

After we got back to our room, we realized we forgot the bag with the diapers and pullups...I had 2 diapers left for Madelyn at that point and no pull up for Brody. Oops! So, Heath went to Walmart in the pouring rain while the kids and I stayed back and watched a movie and stayed up waiting for him.

Then Saturday morning, we planned to have breakfast at the resort (they had a great breakfast buffet) and then go bowling at the on site bowling alley. What we didn't know is that the bowling alley didn't open until 2:00! So, we didn't get to do that. (And we still haven't heard the end of it) Instead, we headed up to the outlets to kill some time before they called about the waverunner. Our first stop was the Coach outlet ;). I got to pick out a couple of things as early Mother's Day gifts! Then the sun came out and it turned out to be a pretty nice day. Around lunch time we asked the kids what they were in the mood for and Brody said chicken noodle soup...he wouldn't give up on it, so we headed to a nearby Panera. He ate like 2 bites. He's not going to be taken seriously with his food requests anymore. Heath and I really wanted Mexican. Oh well.

After lunch we picked up the waverunner and headed home to try to beat any severe thunderstorms that were heading our way. Luckily for us, the storms stayed north. We're praying for the parts of Wichita, Oklahoma, Iowa and other parts of Kansas that didn't get so lucky.
