Week 3 and my protien shake recipe

I'm getting ready to start week 3 of being back at Jazzercise, and I feel great! I'm so glad that I made the decision to go back. I've lost 2 lbs since I started 2 weeks ago, which I guess is better than nothing, but I was hoping that the first 5 lbs would come off a little faster. I looked at my weight tracker and last March, I was 4 lbs lighter than I am today.

I made a goal for myself to log my food at MyFitnessPal.com, and I did an ok job. As soon as Friday hit, I let it go. I'm making that a goal again this week. I tend to think that if it doesn't get logged, it didn't count...which is not true!

One thing that is a staple in my diet recently is a protein shake in the morning. I make one for me and Heath (and the kids get a little sample, too).

Chocolate Banana Protein Shake
Makes 2 servings
Ingredients:
2 scoops Chocolate Protein Powder
2 bananas
1 cup milk
about 2 cups ice

I put the bananas, milk and ice in the blender first then I add the protein powder and blend in 1 scoop at a time. It is pretty sticky, so in an effort to make sure it all gets used and not stuck to the side of the blender, I started adding it last.

It's really good and it keeps me full until about 10 or 10:30 (when sitting at my desk). If I wasn't stuck at a desk all day, it would hold me until noon. Why does that happen? I swear I'd be thinner if I didn't work...

I did skip one class last week because Heath was home with the stomach flu. I was up each time he was in the bathroom on Monday night, so by the time the alarm went off on Tuesday morning, I was in no mood to go. And I know how hard it is to take care of the kids when you're sick, so I felt bad leaving him with them.

Speaking of the kids, I think that daylight savings time is going to help with the fact that they were getting up when I left...today they were still in bed when I got home! Hoping it sticks!

And one last random thought. I know from experience that Jazzercise works for weight loss and muscle tone, but I'm having a hard time understanding how some of the people in the class are not thinner than they are. There are many ladies that have been going to Jazzercise every morning since I was there almost 3 years ago, and they still look overweight to me. The only conclusion I can come to is that they aren't going as high on the intensity scale as I am, or maybe they don't watch their diet. Or maybe it just gets harder to shed the fat when you are older...I guess that's motivation to get it under control, now...before I turn 30!

Linking up with Ashley this week.

May I suggest one addition? A big spoonful of peanut butter. It is good protein and fat, plus it is delicious! I have a chocolate banana peanut butter shake every morning and I love it. Plus you can drink breakfast on the way to work!
