Weekend so far

What a great weekend so far! Last night, Julie and I went up the Junior League Holiday Mart! The holiday mart is up there with Thanksgiving and Christmas as one of those days that I look forward to every year. This was our 6th time going! A lot of the same vendors were there, but it was nice to see some new ones, too! Something that I bought was actually from one of the new vendors! I bought a Candy Cottage! It doesn't sound as cool as it really is...it's a plastic gingerbread house! You can decorate it for every holiday and then wash it (it's dishwasher safe) and put it away for the next one! The kids and I got right on it and decorated it for Halloween today! I cut our decorating off a little sooner than I had planned because I couldn't get the kids to stop eating the frosting and candy corns! I thought it turned out pretty cute for keeping it simple, though! I'm already coming up with ideas for Christmas! We might even through a Thanksgiving one in there because I've been wanting to make one of those cute turkeys with the candy corns for feathers!

Getting set up!

It didn't take this one long to get into the frosting!

And the finished product!

Madelyn is to busy eating the sprinkles off the table to smile for the picture!

I also picked up some other Christmas gifts for the kids, mostly stocking stuffers. And I'm having a shirt custom made for Brody's birthday party next Saturday. I hope it turns out cute! I'm sure it will...I had 2 other things from their shop in my hands, but I put them back.

And I got an Elf on the Shelf! I cannot wait to get him started! I think that I will start it on Nov. 5th. We are going to see Santa that day (our photographer has the same Santa come every year and that's the date it's scheduled). I plan to set him and the book out before we leave so that they see him when we come home. I think Brody's finally old enough to get into it.

Today was great...the only place we had to be was Brody's swimming lessons this morning (and Heath took him which was nice). I didn't take a shower until 11:00, we watched the K-State game (they're 7-0!), played outside for a few minutes, and finished up our grocery shopping this afternoon. We ate an early dinner, decorated the candy cottage, gave the kids a long bubble bath, read them books and they were out by 7:15! I've longed for an un-rushed weekend like this for a while. I'm hoping to see more like this as we move into winter. Tomorrow we have Little Ones Worship, mass and a wedding for one of Heath's second cousins. Should be another great day!
