I am getting so behind. I have so many things to blog about, but haven't had the time to edit all my photos and put together thoughtful posts for everything. I'll get there! I've been so busy recently. Last weekend I had my reunion, so I was really busy getting last minute things together for it. Then, I've been working with the personal trainer to get her business off the ground, so I feel guilty working on my own blog when I need to get website completed. I'll get caught up sooner or later!
Our washing machine still isn't working...the guy came out again on Saturday and said we need a new water valve which is a $120 part that's probably not covered by the warranty...great! So yesterday, Heath took the kids and the darks out to his parents to get the 3 loads we had piling up done. I stayed back and got the house clean! It felt good to get the whole thing done since I hadn't been able to do it all since the weekend before our vacation. I always keep the kitchen and floors clean, but getting the whole house dusted and decluttered is difficult to do on a weekly basis. Then last night, we went over to Julie and Billy's for burgers and wash our whites.
And I have to say that this anniversary of 9/11 has been very emotional. I was 18, a freshman in college, on this day in 2001. I remember turning on the weather channel, as I did everyday to check the weather, and that's when I heard the news. I had to get to class and didn't know that a second plane had hit. At that point, I thought it was an accident. I got to the elevator and another student from my dorm told me that a second plane had hit. At that point, I don't think I really understood the impact of what had happened. I got to my Natural Disasters class (that I had with Heath and my roommate, Erin) and they had cancelled the class. That's when I realized that this was a really big deal. I remember sitting alone in my dorm room later that day, watching the news footage (Peter Jennings to be exact) and crying. I remember people talking about the long lines at the gas station and to donate blood. I never did either. I remember going over the sorority house that evening. We lit candles and prayed and cried. I don't think I had classes again until that Friday. I don't remember much about the culture or life before 9/11, but I often wonder what it would be like if it had never happened.
Anyways...stay posted for some updates on what we've been up to. I hope to have things updated this week.
