I have to brag

...no, not about my children. I do that every other post already, don't I? I have to take a post to brag about the awesome moms group that I am so proud to be a part of.

Earlier this week, we had a member suddenly lose her sister. She went from being the mother of 2 to 4 in the blink of an eye. The way my moms group came together to make sure she has what she needs was unbelievable. She said she needed a triple stroller. By 6:00 that night, we had one in hand. The offers for prayers, meals, and countless other things has been overwhelming. I am so humbled to be surrounded by such a caring, supportive group of women.

I've been involved with Mothers and More for about a year. Last May, I was going to spend my first full day and night alone with 2 kids. Madelyn was about 3 months old and Brody was 2 and a half. I knew that I couldn't spend my whole day inside with them, so I got on the internet to see what was going on that day. I saw that there was a free Mr. Stinky Feet concert that morning, so I decided to get ready and go. When we got there, I realized it was an open house for the local Mothers and More chapter. They were doing a raffle, so I went ahead and entered. At the end of the concert they drew names and I won a free membership!

It was kind of funny because when I first had Brody, I came across their website and thought about joining, but I didn't. Now that I have been in it for a year, I wish that I had! I am the first of my friends to have kids, so I had no mom friends to talk to about things and Brody had no friends to have play dates with.

I think every mom needs to find a group to be involved in. Not only for the social support system, but for the connections you make. Our group is very diverse and I like that about it. It seems like anytime I have a question about anything, from Brody's behavior to what dentist to use to Disney World, there is someone in the group with an answer. The women are so caring and supportive and that was demonstrated this week, for sure. If anyone out there wants information on how to join, please contact me! I will get you in touch with the right person.
