Momma is tired!

It's so funny how differently we approach things with Maddy as compared to Brody. When Brody was a baby, he was such a good sleeper, and like I posted before, we could let him cry and he would put himself back to sleep in less than 10 minutes. With the princess, it's a little bit of a different story. She also has always been a good sleeper, but lately she's been getting up at night. It started a couple weeks back. I don't remember exactly when, because I only half-remember things that happen in the middle of the night. She's had a cold and cough, so I blame it...and the snow plows. We are blessed and cursed to live on our street. The best thing about it, is that they plow our street. Often. Like 5 or 6 times a night often. And they are loud. And the kids rooms are on the front of the house. Ok...back to her. When she wakes up now, she stands right up. When she stands up, she doesn't know what to do next. We've been trying for weeks to teach her how she can get down, but she just hasn't figured it out. And she screams. And her room is right next to Brody's. So, we have been rushing in to get her and bring her into our room. I'm afraid she's getting used to it. I used to be able to bring her in, let her calm down and then take her back to the crib without any protest. It wasn't that easy last night. She went down without any problem at 8:00. Then at about 10:20, just as I was getting ready to fall asleep, she woke up. She wouldn't lay back down, so I brought her into our room. She slept with us until about 1:30 when I woke up. I tried to bring her back to her crib...I can't remember all of the details, but she ended up back in our bed at some point, and she slept in her crib at some point. Needless to say...we have got to get her to stay in her crib. We were really successful with keeping Brody out of our bed, but it is looking like we're creating a monster with the princess. I'm hoping that once she gets over this cold that she'll get back to sleeping all night. (at least until the next snow or we move).

Since my goal with this blog is to keep track of the little things since I've been bad about it to this point...yesterday they let me leave work at 2:45 because of the snowstorm, so I went to pick the kids up. We were playing in the living room and Maddy pointed to her baby doll and said "baby"! She's so smart! She also is totally into the uh-oh thing now...she drops her binky or her water or her bottle and says "uh-oh". I really wish I would have documented more of Brody's little milestones so that I could compare and see what he was doing at 11 months. Oh well...going forward :)
