Weekend at the Lake

We spent the last 2 weekends at the lake to help my mom and dad move in some furniture and get settled! The first weekend was cold and rainy, so we pretty much unloaded the truck, unpacked boxes, cleaned and watched movies. The second weekend we were actually able to enjoy it! The weather on Saturday was awesome! The day started early (nothing new there)...we watched some cartoons while the sun was rising, then the kids looked for bald eagles out on the deck.

After everyone was up, we ate breakfast and Madelyn and I opened our birthday gifts from my mom and dad.

Madelyn got a princess bubble blower, so she spent some time playing with that while everyone got ready for the day.

My mom picked up stuff to make cupcakes so that we could sing to Madelyn since she isn't going to make it to town for her birthday. Heath, Brody and Billy went down to the dock to do some fishing, but they didn't last long...it was pretty cold and windy down there.

Before we headed out for the afternoon, we took a walk down to the dock so Brody could throw some rocks.

That afternoon, we drove into Branson to do some shopping and have dinner to celebrate the February birthdays.

After dinner, my parents were really excited to take Brody to this store where he could build his own Lightning McQueen. He loved it!
He finished in 1 minute and 3 seconds! They treat it like being in a pit crew.

Then, we headed over to Build-a-Bear so Madelyn could make something. We thought she would want a Hello Kitty, but she chose a bunny. She's so funny because she is so outgoing and loud most of the time, but she can be very caustious around people she doesn't know.

When we got back to the house we sang Happy Birthday and ate cupcakes. There is nothing quite like watching a soon to be 3 year old as you sing her Happy Birthday. She was so bashful and happy at the same time. Such a sweetheart.

Now can we just fast forward to summer so we can get down there more often, please?
