Brody's Birthday

Brody's actual birthday fell on a Monday this year. Which is kind of a bummer when you are a working mom! I don't know whether to say fortunately or unfortunately, but I actually got sent home from work because I was coming down with something and apparently didn't look very good. So, I packed up my laptop and worked from home the rest of his birthday! I love that I get to do that I because I managed to get more done at home than I would have at the office (because my mom was taking care of the kids, of course)!

Anyways, we started the morning by letting Brody open his gift from us...

A new bike! He was sort of bummed that it was not a red Lightning McQueen bike, but we figured he might outgrow Lightning McQueen before he outgrows the bike. We did go ahead and get him the Cars helmet and bell, which might have been more exciting than the actual bike!

After Brody got home from school, grandma took him outside to ride his bike for a little bit. We're still working on the braking, but so far he's doing great!

That evening, we had invited all of our family members over for dinner and cake to celebrate Brody's birthday! It was really laid back. I made chili, Brody opened gifts and we got an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen.

I think he had a pretty great birthday! We're still working through the thank you notes...I can only get him to write his name so many times in one day!

I took him to his well check last night and he had to get 2 shots. He did so good as a baby, and never cried during shots. But as a 5 year old, it must hurt a lot more, because he cried until we got to the car. He even ran down the hall to the pediatrician and gave him a hug and let him know that the nurse gave him shots! I mean, how dare she! I couldn't help but laugh!

Brody is growing well! Right along the curve at 50%. He has been going up that curve since he was 2! He weighs 42.4 lbs and is 42.75 inches! He's grown 2.5 inches and 6 lbs in the past year!
