There was a lot of talk that we wouldn't have a very colorful fall. I was bummed about it, because the changing leaves make me so happy! On Sunday afternoon, we made a trip the arboretum. I hate that I don't go there very often. It is such a beautiful place to take a walk. There are miles and miles of trails, and it was packed on Sunday! Lots of people enjoying the great day, like us!
The kids each brought a bucket to gather leaves for an art project. We made rubbed crayon art with the leaves. That was always one of my favorite projects when I was a kid, so I was excited when they both thought it was pretty cool.
They have a lot of art throughout the arboretum, including this controversial piece. I am not a fan, and I hope that it gets removed. I'm all for appreciating it as art, but not in a place where I take my young children. I don't like the message it sends to them, and it's just not something that I want to expose them to now.
This tree carving was cool, but it freaked Madelyn out. I told her to go take a picture with the princess, and she wanted nothing to do with it!
The highlight of Brody's trip was seeing a swarm of snakes! I was really surprised that all we saw was 1 squirrel and the snakes.
