Last weekend

I didn't want to do a catch up post, but it's been such a crazy week that I feel like I have no choice! Our weekend started out with a get together at Julie and Billy's to visit with Julie's friend Aimee and her girls. Aimee's daughter, Piper, is only 3 weeks younger than Madelyn, so we like to get them together when she is in town. She also has a little one, Willow, who is sweet as can be. Both of the kids kept asking to hold the baby, so we let them right before we left.

On Saturday morning we got up and headed to the Brookside Art Fair to see our friend Jenny! It was fun to show the kids the different types of art. I asked Brody what his favorite type of art is, and he said Paintings. Madelyn agreed, of course! Jenny is newly pregnant, so when we stopped by her booth we asked if we could get her anything. She said she really needed to go to the bathroom, so we manned her booth for a few minutes. It was pretty toasty on Saturday, so it was nice to take a little rest in the shade behind her booth!

Later that night, we headed over to Heath's aunt and uncle's house for a Cinco de Mayo party. Unfortunately, I forgot to pull my camera out. The kids had a lot of fun playing with the other kids there and the food was good, as always!

On Sunday, Brody and I went to church and Heath and Madelyn stayed home since Madelyn is taking a few weeks off from the nursery. After mass, Brody and I got stranded at church because there were torrential down pours and pea-sized hail! It sort of came out of nowhere! We tried to wait it out, but we decided to just go for it and got soaked!

The weather cleared up and headed over to our friend Liam's 2nd birthday party! Liam is into tools and construction the way that Brody was into baseball at age 2, so Sara had a Bob the Builder/construction theme to the party.
Best attempt to get a picture of all the kids!

After leaving Liam's party we had to get to the grocery store before it started raining again. We got home and ate dinner, then I started to make dinner to deliver to the rectory on Monday when we heard the weather reports on TV. There were tornadoes reported not far from our home and we were under a tornado warning. I had chicken cooking on the stove and the kids were just finishing up their dinner, so it wasn't really a convenient time to go down to the basement, but they were not far and headed our way, so me and the kids went down to the basement.  Heath hung out upstairs to watch the weather reports. Luckily, the tornadoes decided to stay up in the clouds before they made it to our neighborhood, so we were able to come back up after about 20 minutes in the basement. There were reports of baseball sized hail, but we never got any of that, thank goodness! We really didn't want to get a 2nd roof in a year!

The kids camped out in the basement! They kept themselves entertained with their goody bags from Liam's birthday party!
