The trip was sort of a tease for our other trips we have planned for the summer. It made me anxious to get away again! The 3 and a half hours in the car was a good primer for our upcoming long-weekend trips to St. Louis and Chicago. Madelyn isn't the biggest fan of riding in the car. Brody was a great road-tripper when he was younger. He travelled quite a bit his first couple of years, and was quite good at sitting in the car. He usually did good for about 6 hours at a time. Madelyn is done with it after 30 minutes!
I made the mistake of planning for them to nap in the car...we kept Madelyn up on Saturday morning (she usually takes a nap during Brody's swim lessons) hoping that she would sleep most of the way there. I also figured Brody would get a little nap in before we got there. Boy was I wrong! Brody fell asleep when we were about 10 minutes away from Blythe's. Then Madelyn fell asleep as soon as we left Blythe's house. So, both kids only got about a 10 minute nap. You can bet that they were tired! They both fell asleep on the way to Omaha. Madelyn went right to sleep when we got there, but Brody was feeling a little refreshed from his nap, so he stayed up with us for a few minutes to watch some of the College Softball World Series and eat cookies.

| As soon as we left Lincoln, both of their poor heads were hanging. |
Brody kept himself occupied in the car by getting the semi drivers to honk their horns! I think he got 9 total on the trip! He thought it was pretty cool! The converstaion wen something like this:
Brody spots semi in the distance ahead of us.
Brody: Daddy, you tell me to get ready?
Heath: Yeah, I'll tell you.
Brody: OK. You tell me to get ready and I move my hand up and down.
Heath: Ok, get ready.
Brody: OK. (Hand moving up and down)
Then he would let out a giggle and have such a huge, proud smile if he got one to oblige! We passed a truck carrying a carnival ride and he was extra generous with the honks!
