Thomas!

On Sunday afternoon, Brody and I drove to Baldwin City to see Thomas the Tank Engine. We did not take the ride on the train because at $18 per person, we just didn't think it would be worth it. Besides, I think Brody was just as excited to ride the yellow school bus from the parking lot to the train depot as he would have been to ride the train. I looked online and they offer other rides throughout the year that are a lot cheaper, so we'll do another one sometime. And, he didn't even notice that people were actually riding on the train, so I'm glad that I didn't drop the $36 for a 20 minute train ride.

It was fun to see Thomas, though! I told Brody we were going to see something, but I didn't tell him what. He was really tired and slept the whole way there. When we got there, he was so excited to ride the school bus. School buses are a big deal to him right now since he's going to school in August. He was pretty excited when I told him we got to ride it!

When we got to the depot, another kid yelled "Thomas" so the surprise was sort of ruined, but he was still in awe. I didn't get the reaction that I thought I was going to get. I set my expectations for excitement a little too high from him.

After we watched the train leave (and heard Thomas go "Peep peep") we walked around the grounds for a little bit. There was a little petting zoo with a baby camel! Brody didn't want anything to do with it. I think he was scared of the camel, but he hasn't stopped talking about it. I think he wants to go see it again.

We got to see Sir Topem Hatt and Brody got to sit in a real fire truck! Another highlight of the day.

And, we couldn't leave without fresh cotton candy! It was so good! It's been a really long time since I've had it! A treat for both Brody and me!

It was sort of a last minute decision to go, and I'm glad we did. Brody had a lot of fun playing with the toy trains they had set up and of course seeing Thomas, the school bus and fire truck! If he is still into Thomas next year I *might* splurge for the tickets because I think he'll appreciate and understand more next year.
