I can't believe that this year marked my 5th official Mother's Day! I don't feel old enough for that!
We started the day off with a plan to go to mass before heading to the zoo, but when we were trying to figure out if we'd have enough time to get out to Melody's house after the zoo, we decided that we needed to get an earlier start, so we skipped it. We ran by and I unlocked the nursery and then we were on our way.
We weren't sure what kind of crowds to expect. They let moms in for free on Mother's Day, and it was a ZOO! We went on Father's Day a few years back and it was not crowded at all, so I had hope that it wouldn't be too bad. I was wrong. It was still a lot of fun, though!

| I loved this...the kids held hands on their own. |
| We rode the new Sky Safari over the Africa area of the zoo. It was cool to see the animals from up above, but I think I would recommend people to use it as transportation more than a ride to see the animals. We left our wagon though, so we didn't want to have to walk back to get it. |
| Me and sweet Brody. He was making me nervous on the ride...he kept sliding forward to get a better view below him, but I was worried he was going to slide out! |
| Mama and baby giraffes. I heard the babies were pretty young...maybe born in February? |
| Brody kept wanting to look at the map. So funny! |
| Me and the kiddos! They were very sweet all day. |
| Madelyn was pretty apprehensive about all of the animals until about this point. I believe she's looking at some turtles. She just plopped down to get a closer look. |
| Brody said that the Rhinos and Elephants were his favorite. Madelyn said she liked the Monkeys. |
| And of course, we had to ride the carousel! |
| Madelyn held on really tight the whole time. The only way she would ride is if I went with her. Next week at Worlds of Fun should be interesting! |
| And we waited about 45 minutes to ride the train! |
| We were really excited to finally see the polar bear, but she didn't really put on a show for us. She just paced back and forth both on our way in and out. |
| As soon as we left the parking lot, the kids were passed out! |
After the zoo we headed to the grocery store and we grilled brats for dinner. Then we headed out to Melody's to deliver her Mother's Day gift and say hello. On our way home, we went to look for deer and turkey (not my idea) and we saw a lot of deer which is always fun for the kids, which I guess makes it fun for me even if I could care less if we see them :)
I had a great mother's day! I am so blessed to be their mama!
