A lot has happened!

Well, my plan for this blog was to keep a diary, so to speak, so that we would have a way to remember the special events that have come and gone in the past 8 months! I haven't been so good about keeping this updated, but I'm going to start now. One of my only hobbies these days is scrapbooking, so I didn't buy a baby book for Brody. Now I haven't started on Brody's scrapbook (I haven't finished the wedding scrapbook...), but I've been trying to document different milestones through pictures so that I can make sure we catch everything!

Here's an update of our lives so far this summer...
As Brody turned 7 months old at the end of May, he began sitting on his own. It's been a lot of fun to see him really play with his toys. He's really understanding how they work and the whole cause and effect thing. He can sit down and keep himself entertained for hours! On Saturday, we were busy working around the house, so where ever I was cleaning I would set him down with some toys. He played with this Fisher Price cookie jar for the entire day! Putting the cookies in and taking them out all day. He was just fascinated by it! I would give him other options for toys, but that's the only one he wanted! I hope he never changes! He's so content and just goes with the flow. He's been that way since we brought him home.
In June, we went to North Carolina for Ethan's graduation. Unfortunately we didn't get there in time to see him graduate. At 4:30 am on the day we were leaving, we got a phone call that our direct flight had been cancelled. We ended up getting on a flight to Dallas that left at the same time, so we got to the airport with plenty of time to spare and actually got on an earlier flight to Dallas. Which was great because it gave us some extra time between our flights. Well, I'm sure glad we got on that earlier flight because our real flight was delayed (with our bags) and we wouldn't have made our connecting flight to Raleigh! I only had enough formula and diapers for the time we were traveling! So, we got to Raleigh (without our bags...) and made our way to LaGrange. Our bags arrived later that evening, so we had them in time to leave for the beach the next day. We spent a week at the beach, which was a lot of fun and very relaxing. Despite the smoke that blew in from the wildfires in Eastern NC, we had great weather. Most of the vacation was smoke-free, but there were a few mornings that we had to stay indoors with Brody. I think in the end it was better for him to have some down-time.

My plan is to post something everyday (at least every week...) So feel free to check back ocasionally. Hope everyone is doing well!
